The Motor City Chapter of the Women Marines Association is proud to announce
our first fundraiser to support our Fallen Warrior Women Marine Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship will honor our Marines who have made the ultimate sacrifice
while serving their country.
The reasons for joining the Marine Corps is unique to each Marine. Their love of family, Country, and Corps culminated with each making the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. The rolls read clearly of honor, courage and dedication. Major Megan McClung, Capt Jennifer Harris, Sgt Jeannette Winters, Cpl Jennifer Parcell, Cpl Ramona Valdez, LCpl’s Casey Casanova, Holly Charette and Juana Navarro Arellano. These eight Marines did indeed give all.
The Motor City Chapter of the Women Marines Association (WMA) has formed a new scholarship. The Fallen Warrior Women Marine Memorial Scholarship will honor our Marines who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The scholarship, administered by WMA National, will begin in 2011. It is our hopes that we will be able to raise the funds needed to make sure that it is a perpetual and we will keep their memories alive. To make this happen we will need to raise $35,000. Mary Merritt, MI-2 member working to raise the funds states, “Our goal is to be able to present this scholarship at the WMA National Convention in 2010 in Denver. We hope to assure that each year, as we give a scholarship, the recipient stops to realize that it is through the sacrifice of our brave young men and women they are able to lead the lives they do.”
