VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Ramp Builders for our disabled veteran brothers

Local 5960 has a Build a Ramp program to benefit our fellow disabled veterans. Ramps are built at no charge to our fellow veterans who have sacrificed so much. The least we can do is to give the freedom not to be housebound. If you would like to sponsor a ramp (cost per ramp is $1,000) or would like to be part of our building team please contact Al Yates at Local 5960, 248-377-5555 or at pager number 586-912-4520 al.yates@gm.com

Operation Caring Friends

Supporting our troops who receive little from the home front. Working to assure that no serviceman or woman leaves mail call empty handed. This Operation will continue until all our Heroes return home.  We average about 200 boxes a month.

Operation Uplink
Operation Uplink is a unique program of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary. It keeps military personnel and hospitalized veterans in touch with their families and loved ones by providing them with free phone cards. Using contributions from supporters like you, Operation Uplink purchases phone cards and distributes them to servicemen and women who are separated from those they care about. Cards can only be sent to hospitalized veterans or active duty military personnel deployed away from home. We can only honor one card request per service member in any 60 day time period. Phone cards will only be sent to the following types of addresses: 1) military address 2) hospital or nursing home. Please allow 2-6 weeks for delivery during the holidays. You can send a card via the online page located at:
https://www.operationuplink.org/request.cfm
If you don not have internet access please drop the name to a committee member and we will process your name for you.
